Today I’ve posted a new Sakes Alive!! song entitled “Art For Artist’s Sake” that is available for free download. I’m pretty thrilled about the release of this song, because it marks the first track I’ve ever successfully recorded and mixed myself without outside assistance! I cannot overstate the feeling of accomplishment with seeing this track come to life.

The song also includes two guest vocals from different Rochester singers. Chris Pogue from the band These Eyes, and Ben Kotin from Such Gold.

Chris Pogue has been hitting the pavement for a while in a variety of local bands such as Abominations, Forked Tongues, and more. I’ve always thought that dude had the meanest, most earth-quaking voice. It was awesome having him over to play one of the “Chorus of Critics”.

With Ben, it comes full circle. I believe Sakes Alive!! took Such Gold out on one of their first tours when we toured in July 2009. Back then I knew those guys were gonna kill it. Ben toes the line well of the sing/scream. Stoked he could take time out of their busy schedule to do this.
